DESIGN APPROACH
Every project we undertake is different because every client, every site, every budget is different. Our projects are extremely varied- from simple to complex, from urban to rural, from small residential or commercial additions to 50 million dollar condominiums, and include commercial, residential, and institutional. We listen to our clients’ needs and desires, study the site, and through our training and experience seek the best possible solution that yields an appropriate design that functions efficiently and meets budget. We have no single style or agenda that we try to force on each project- each stands on its own and personal design “signatures” never dominate. We like vernacular architecture and work hard at expressing each material in the most honest way possible.

In addition to our architectural design practice we have specialized over the years in roof consulting. Our knowledge and experience with designing and repairing metal and single ply PVC roofs is unmatched in northwest Florida. Previous clients have included Bay District Schools, Gulf Coast State College, City of Panama City, many condominiums, businesses, and private residences.

  OFFICE INFORMATION
We prefer to work on a fixed fee contract basis when the scope of the work is defined up front. If the design direction or program is not clear we will bill hourly until the scope is more clearly defined. At that point we mutually decide with our clients whether to continue hourly billing or convert to a fixed fee agreement. Occasionally we will work on a percentage of construction cost basis. Regardless of the arrangement all fees reflect the scope of work and our required involvement.

  BACKGROUND
Karen Rimes

Received Bachelor of Architecture degree from University of Miami in 1976.

Became a registered Architect in Florida in 2000.

Worked for Virginia and Florida firms before joining Taylor Architects in 1993. After 30 years, Larry Taylor retired and closed Taylor Architects, Inc. Taking the experience of involvement in every phase of a project I opened Karen Rimes Architect, Inc. in 2015.
